DISCUSSION QUESTIONS:

1a.  List any TWO diseases or disorders that are linked directly or indirectly to interactions between the skin and the environments, closest to, or farthest from, the equator.

1b.   Choose any ONE of the two diseases/disorder that you listed above. Based on your knowledge of the integumentary system, explain the role of the skin in the homeostasis imbalances seen in the two most disparate populations. In other words, even with very different skin colors and environments, why are the physiological consequences the same for these two populations?

2. Explain ONE advantage of the adaptation of lighter skin color at higher latitudes, and ONE advantage of the adaptation of darker skin at or near the equator.
