The report will discuss the role of information systems in an industry of your choice (see below)
with a focus on the use of mobile applications in that specific industry. The paper is not just
about information systems in general but how mobile applications are used in that specific
industry. You will narrow your topic to a specific mobile application or family of applications
and then identify three companies that use the technology.
For example: News Media: Meteorologist: then the mobile applications specifically used by
them and the mobile applications that individuals can download. Medical industry – Identify the
applications and then specifically how hospitals use mobile applications.
The document should have the following:
o Title Page
o Table of Contents
o Description of the industry structure
o The dominant competitive strategy within that industry;
o The value chains of the industry;
o The business process of the industry;
o Explain the use of mobile applications in the industry.
o Describe the technology
o How does it enhance or assist the defined industry?
o How are the mobile apps used to the specific as a whole?
o Discuss the effects, benefits, challenges, and other legal and ethical issues
associated with use of the information technology you identified.
o Identify and discuss three companies within the industry with successful
implementation/use of the mobile applications. (how are they using the mobile apps
o Discuss how the companies have benefitted, what challenges did they
encounter, and any legal or ethical issues.
o Include external links to the three companies that you discuss in the paper. The
links should be embedded in the text of the report not just listed. This may
include a link to the organization or the technology that they are using.
o Add at least four graphics that enhance the content of the paper. The graphics must be
pertinent to the topic and must be integrated. Be sure to cite all images that are not your
o Add a chart. The chart must be pertinent to the topic. This chart may be created by you
or something you found in your research. However, it must be cited properly if it is not
your original work. This means you cannot recreate a chart that you find online!
o Works Cited Page - Include an organized reference page for your sources of information.
You will need at least 10 of these sources (journals, books, magazines, etc.). Use APA or
MLA standards creating your reference page.
1. Include a title page with all of the members of the team that participated in the project.
2. Word Format – if you are using another word processing tool be sure that you can save
the document to a PDF format.
3. Include a Table of Contents.
4. Use headers/subheaders to identify areas of your paper.
5. Use Page numbers.
6. Minimum 10 double-spaced pages excluding the title page and works cited page.
7. Use no larger than 12pt font size throughout the document.
8. Use 1” margins from all sides: top, left, right, and bottom.
