Interest groups are a highly significant part of American politics. The purpose of this posting is for you to investigate interest groups. The purpose of responding to other students is for you to see other perspectives and learn from your peers.
Task:
1. Go to Project VoteSmart's directory of interest groups located here: https://justfacts.votesmart.org/interest-groups. Note that you can search by state or by issue, and select one research group.
2. Investigate your chosen interest group. At a minimum, visit that group's official website.
3. For the group you have selected, discuss its core political beliefs and results. Be sure to address these areas:
- What kinds of policy goals does this group want to achieve?
- How successful has this group been in accomplishing their goals?
- Does this group appear to represent the interests of a majority of the American people?
