Population Data
Resources.
There are many YouTube videos on how to create and interpret charts, including scatter and population pyramids, for you to choose from.
The following links, however, are simple webpages that show the steps using screen shots.
Present your data in a scatter chart or a line chart
How to Build a Population Pyramid in Excel: Step-by-Step Guide
A. Simple Graph:
In this section, you will produce a chart of the past and projected populations of three school districts (SD) in British Columbia (Table 1). You will then derive additional data, describe, and compare and contrast the three populations.
1. Complete Table 1(5) [Calculate the Annual Growth Rate in percentages to one decimal place]
2. Create an appropriate chart using the data of the total populations against census years of the three school districts from Table 1. Include an appropriate title, legend, and axes (10) [Make the chart half a page in size. You will be graded on the final chart]
3. Describe, compare and contrast the data series on your chart. Start with the earliest date, and describe the general trends using dates and population data. Also consider the reasons for these trends (10)
