Objective: To demonstrate understanding of and ability to apply key themes and concepts from Unit 3 of the course.
For this assessment, you will craft an essay in response to the prompt that appears below. You may use course materials, including videos and assigned readings, in your essay (if you cite them correctly). However, you may NOT use course lectures or outside materials (readings, websites, videos, or other sources that are not included as part of required learning activities for this course) in your essay.
Your essay for this assessment must be a minimum of 750 words in length (not including bibliography). It is due via the assignment drop box on eLearling by 11:59 p.m. on Sunday, March 14. Late submissions will not be accepted. It is imperative that you follow formatting guidelines as detailed in the course syllabus and properly cite any assigned course readings or videos you use in your essay.
In addition, you must incorporate "key terms and concepts" from the course in your essay—you must put the key terms and concepts in bold. You are required to use a minimum of 6 key terms and concepts from the course thus far (including units 1, 2, and 3) and at least 4 key terms and concepts must be from Unit 3. As with assessments land 2, you should NOT define each term/concept that you use in your essay; instead, you should use the terms in a manner that is accurate and demonstrates understanding, providing specific examples and explanation as needed.
PROMPT: In this unit, we explored various global health challenges, including the following: communicable diseases; neglected tropical diseases; noncommunicable diseases; mental health; maternal health; child health; dental health; violence & injury; and the environment.
Although the textbook discusses each of the above challenges separately, the reality is that such challenges are interconnected. and that they boils impact and are impacted by one another.
Choose three of the contemporary global health challenges listed above and create an original essay in which you detail the interconnections between those challenges. How does each of the health challenges you have chosen influence or effect the other health challenges in ways that complicate contemporary health? How does successfully addressing one of these health challenges lead to better health outcomes in other health challenges? Is it possible to adequately confront one of the health challenges you have chosen without also confronting the other health challenges? And how might the global community use awareness of the interconnections between contemporary health challenges to promote more effective health programs, policies. and health care in the 21st century?
