Specifically, within the domain of family business research, there is a growing recognition of the ubiquity of network and social capital mechanisms generating cumulative advantage to individual members of family businesses, but the mechanisms driving intergenerational family advantages are not well understood. Show business families provide an insightful context to investigate these mechanisms. In this chapter, we use the case of show business families to discuss how family members’ status changes have spillover effects on other family members, through social network mechanisms.
