Your capstone experience will take place at your place of employment. You will develop an improvement project for your unit, area, or agency. You can solicit ideas from a nurse in a leadership position on your unit or agency, expand on quality improvement measures in place on your unit or agency, build on particulars learned during the leadership interview, or develop an improvement project based on your knowledge of the unit or agency.

By the end of the course, the total number of hours spent on the improvement project should total 66 hours. You will submit log sheets documenting your activities and the required hours.

 
The capstone project will include:
Capstone Goals: Minimum of two and a maximum of three
The practicum goal is a broad statement of the focus of the practicum experience and should be written in a proper goal format.    

Learning Objectives: Minimum of three and a maximum of four

The individual learning objectives should identify how you will accomplish the practicum goals. The
objectives should be clear, understandable, and describe what you plan to learn rather than what you plan to do. Each objective should contain one action verb and be measurable and achievable over the time of the course.      

Learning Strategies: Minimum of three and maximum of four for each learning objective

Identify the learning strategies that will help you accomplish each proposed learning objective. Are they feasible? Have you considered all possibilities?  

 
Evidence of Accomplishments:
State the evidence you will provide to demonstrate that you attained your learning objectives. How will you know that your learning objectives were met? Evidence should be provided for each learning strategy.    

 
Outcomes:
Evaluate the outcome of achieving your learning objectives. What is the value to you and/or your organization? An outcome should be provided for each learning objective.    
Find attached below a copy of the Capstone Learning Contract. Submit the typed contract for faculty review and approval prior to starting the improvement project. All areas of the contract should be completed, except the columns labeled, Evidence of Accomplishment and Outcomes. These columns will be filled in as they are completed throughout the course. By the end of the course, all columns

should be completed.  
Journal Assignment 1:       
In 1-2 pages, describe the capstone improvement project you have selected, why this was selected, and what you hope to accomplish. Discuss your job responsibilities and include a description of the facility, agency, and unit.
Identify a person in the facility or agency that is in a leadership position, has a minimum of a BSN, and will serve as a reference as you develop the project. Include a description of the person's role in the organization. You will share the completed project with this leader at the end of the course.  
Submit assignment journal in APA format and include a title page and reference(s).
In addition to Journal Assignment 1, submit the Capstone Learning Contract.
