For this assignment, based on your FINAL PICOT (will upload) question, you will develop a practice problem paper:
- Introduction: You will start with an introduction to your problem and define the problem you have identified, describe the prevalence of the problem, describe the significance of the problem to patients and to nurses, and include your PICOT question.
- Recommendations: The paper should include a review of the evidence that you found, and based on the evidence you found you should discuss how you plan to address the problem/make the practice change including the use of an evidence-based practice model -- here is a review of EBP models that I created for my undergraduate EBP class for those who need a review (EBP Models are taught in undergraduate nursing school): (will upload) Please note, the purpose of looking at research is to review/analyze data that was obtained in a systematic way that could be used to support a change in practice. Therefore, practice recommendations in your paper need to be firmly grounded in the evidence that you have reviewed. For example, if you are interested in improving metabolic control for patients with diabetes, you will review research studies that tested interventions to help patients maintain metabolic control. You would not recommend home visits as an EBP intervention unless one of your selected studies involved the use of home visits by nurses as an intervention.
- You need 5 sources of evidence for this assignment: In order to support your argument, you need to use at least 5 current references (within the past 5 - 7 years) from the professional literature. These will include the 3 primary research articles you used in your evidence table and two more articles that are a primary study and a systematic review and or meta-analysis. If you cannot locate a systematic review and/or meta-analysis, you must make note of this and replace it with another primary source. These references can come from professional journals and reputable websites (such as American Heart Association, March of Dimes, and Center for Disease Control). Again, you must use 5 research sources as your evidence.
- The final paragraph of the paper should reiterate the nursing problem, your inquiry, and your recommendation(s) for practice change(s) based on your gathered evidence. You should also include a closing statement(s) about what you have learned from this assignment and how that knowledge is significant to patients and nursing.
This paper must reflect the guidelines of the APA Publication Manual 7th edition and include a title page, citations, and a reference list. The maximum length of this paper is 4 pages; as such, you must be succinct (not including the title and reference pages). See grading rubric.
