***Address the following topic statement, summarising the key literature relating to the topic:
'Panic buying during a health crisis is influenced by a number of factors. In this literature review provide one psychological factor that influences panic buying.'
The literature review should consist of the following elements:
- a title (mention panic buying, psychological factor chosen, theory)
- an abstract (100 words max)
- a selection of scholarly literature (sources) related to the topic
- an interpretation and evaluation of the literature
- a summary of all relevant empirical research findings from the literature, and an explanation of how this supports all key premises
- reference list (8 or more peer review sources- especially psychology journals)
- word limit is 1500 words. There is no 10% leeway on this limit.

Stages of writing a literature review
The following steps will assist you to address the various stages required when writing a literature review.
Step 1: Define and clarify the topic:
- What is the general topic the topic statement is referring to?
- What questions/areas/themes arise from the statement?
Step 2: Find and read relevant literature:
- Obtain scholarly sources relevant to the topic statement and its questions/areas/themes.
- Read and summarise sources and identify their main arguments as they relate to the topic statement.
Step 3: Evaluate the literature:
- Does this literature contribute to your understanding of the review topic? Was it relevant or irrelevant?
- What key issues/themes/questions arise?
- Are any possible answers or conclusions presented?
- What is the evidence to support the main arguments or counter-arguments in the literature?
Step 4: Outline the evidence for the key issues, ideas, themes or questions that arise?
- What literature evaluates your point?
- How does your point relate to the overall literature review?
