The impact of HIT on patient choice and access to healthcare

In the last two weeks we have focused on the evolution of health information technology as well as the impact that has had on patients. This week, it is your turn to consider what that impact has had on patient choice and access to healthcare. In an APA formatted paper that is 10 pages in length (not including cover page or reference page), discuss the following points and support your ideas with outside research.

Your paper should cover the following:

-How has health information technology changed patients as consumers?

-How has HIT changed how patients select doctors, facilities, and treatment?

-Has the way patients select providers/care changed how providers/organizations approach care to attract patients?

-Are patients who do not have access to HIT at a disadvantage? Does this cause an inequality in care?

Please ensure that your writing adheres to APA 7th edition standards and that your ideas are supported by 3-5 outside references. Additionally, please ensure that your paper includes a proper introductory paragraph with a thesis statement, headers, and a concluding paragraph to tie your ideas together. Please refer to the guidance regarding Turn-It-In in the course overview for more information regarding expectations about your TII feedback. As a reminder, ideally 80% of your paper should be in your own words, and no more than 20% should be quotations that are properly cited. Paraphrasing still requires proper citation and attribution to the source that you used.
