This is the second step to your Eating Healthy research paper after the Annotated Bibliography. Your research paper MUST follow this outline template. This can not be written in essay format. Use formal outline format, two page minimum. This is the skeletal framework for your essay. The more details you include in your outline, the easier your rough draft will be to write. The indentions are important. They tell the reader the topics and subtopics of your essay.

Task:

Your assignment is to create an organized outline showing me the structure of your four to five typewritten page argument essay persuading college students to eat healthier in a specific way. You are not writing about eating healthier in general. You are persuading students to choose a certain diet or meal plan to help them have the energy and brain power to survive the demanding college life style. Include a strong persuasive thesis directed to college students and what they can do to improve their diets.

Give a brief background of the problem, no more than one paragraph or half a page.

Support your persuasion with evidence. Include quotes from at least three different sources, one from the assigned essays and two from outside sources, no blogs. You will need five sources total on the final draft, but here, quotes from three sources is fine.

Before the conclusion, address your opposition and overcome it to further strengthen your persuasion. Think about the obstacles students might have, no time, no money, no car, then give them alternatives to overcome these obstacles in order to eat healthier.

This outline must be in MLA format. The outline is the skeletal framework of your entire paper.   It must be well organized. Each section should flow smoothly into the next so it is fluid and reader friendly. This is an argumentative research paper, so make sure your thesis is strong and clear. Write for an audience who is familiar with the topic, but not with the particular theme you are exploring. Make your outline detailed enough to fill two to three pages. This step in the writing process will make writing the actual research paper much easier, as it will provide the structure of the essay, and then you will simply have to fill in the details.
