Vocational setting is electronic vehicle and traditional ICE car
TASK GUIDANCE:
● An individual 3000-word assignment – written in review format. This review should explore
the methodological challenges involved in investigating research design and implementation.
The assignment is sub-divided into four (4) tasks, ALL tasks must be done.
ASSIGNMENT TASK:
● You are required to critically review the literature to provide an overview of sources you
have explored while researching for your research plan.
● Task 1 – Based upon a vocational setting with which you are familiar, choose and clearly
state 4 objectives and rationale (500 words).
Vocational setting - an area of work you're familiar with
1.1 Aim
what do you want to find out by doing your research? Clearly state, in one sentence, what you hope to achieve by completing the research project. Remember to avoid ‘and’; it needs to be a simple statement.
The simpler the better.
12-15 words approx
to critically investigate….examine….evaluate…..explore - not to use 'and' as it doubles the work
Avoid too broad – avoid too narrow – focus by people, by place, by company, by customer segment, by market, by product
1.2 4 objectives
what are the steps you will take to help you achieve your aim?
to define/clarify terms used
to explore current/best practice in XXXXX
to evaluate the theories of XXXXX in context of XXXXX
examine the data collected based on the theories/models of XXXXX
1.3 Rationale
why this vocational setting?
Why this aim?
Why these objectives? (supported with references)
● Task 2 – Create, explain and justify a literature assessment schematic to be applied to your
chosen sources. Remember to draw on research methods texts to justify your choices (500
words)
Assessment schematic
2.1 7 questions which you used to help you critically evaluate your sources
2.2 Justified based on research methods texts - explain why those questions? What is their relevance? How will they help you choose reliable and valid sources?
● Task 3 – Create a literature matrix which organises your research into four key themes and
helps you to compare and contrast what the different authors are saying as well as provide
some critical comment on the source quality (no set word limit)
Literature matrix
A table of notes from your reading
Try to summarise the key points from your reading (tick boxes are not enough!)
= You could colour code to show areas of similarity across the sources
Please include a section which offers critical comment
This should be included as an appendix to your report - this is not included in the word count
● Task 4 – Write a critical literature review on four key themes related to your research aim
(2000 words)
Literature review
Write about a paragraph introducing the review
Writing which presents the information from your matrix, offering a review of the main ideas related to your key themes and some critical comment on your sources
Sections 3.1 – 3.4 will have subheadings as dictated by your themes from your matrix. Remember to compare and contrast the ideas from the sources.
We’re looking for approximately 500 words per theme to allow you enough space to discuss the main ideas around each theme.
*Vocational Setting: Electronic Vehicle and Traditional ICE Car*
*1. Aim:*
To critically investigate the factors influencing consumer adoption of electric vehicles (EVs) in comparison to traditional internal combustion engine (ICE) cars.
*1.2 Objectives:*
* To define and clarify the key terms and concepts related to EV adoption and ICE cars.
* To explore current best practices in promoting EV adoption and overcoming barriers to EV ownership.
* To evaluate the theories of consumer behavior and technology acceptance in the context of EV adoption.
* To examine the data collected on EV adoption and ICE car ownership to identify patterns and trends.
*1.3 Rationale:*
* The automotive industry is undergoing a significant transformation with the rise of EVs, and understanding the factors influencing consumer adoption is crucial for policymakers, manufacturers, and marketers.
* EVs offer several environmental and economic benefits, but their adoption rates vary across different regions and countries.
* A comprehensive understanding of the factors influencing EV adoption can help stakeholders develop targeted strategies to accelerate the transition to sustainable transportation.
*2. Literature Assessment Schematic:*
*2.1 Questions:*
* What are the key factors influencing consumer adoption of EVs?
* How do these factors compare to those influencing the ownership of ICE cars?
* What are the current best practices in promoting EV adoption and overcoming barriers to EV ownership?
* What theories of consumer behavior and technology acceptance can be applied to explain EV adoption?
* What data is available on EV adoption and ICE car ownership, and how can it be used to identify patterns and trends?
*2.2 Justification:*
* These questions are relevant to the research aim and will help identify reliable and valid sources that provide insights into the factors influencing EV adoption.
* The questions are specific and focused, allowing for a targeted literature search and analysis.
* The questions are based on research methods texts that emphasize the importance of critical evaluation and synthesis of information.
*3. Literature Matrix:*
* The literature matrix will organize the research into four key themes:
* Factors influencing EV adoption
* Barriers to EV adoption
* Best practices in promoting EV adoption
* Theories of consumer behavior and technology acceptance applied to EV adoption
* The matrix will include a section for critical comment on the source quality, considering factors such as the author's expertise, the research methods used, and the currency and relevance of the information.
*4. Critical Literature Review:*
* The literature review will present a comprehensive analysis of the key themes identified in the literature matrix.
* It will compare and contrast the ideas from different sources, highlighting areas of agreement and disagreement.
* The review will also offer critical commentary on the quality and validity of the sources, identifying gaps in the literature and suggesting directions for future research.
