YOUR COURSEWORK 1 IS TO PREPARE A PLAN FOR THE FOLLOWING RESEARCH PAPER:
You work for a European Research Institute and have been tasked with producing a research paper relating to the EU regulation of Credit Rating Agencies since the global financial crisis of 2007-2008. You have been instructed to critically evaluate the following statement:
‘Even though policymakers have tried to fix the ‘wrongs’, they have only scratched the surface and got carried away mainly by treating the symptoms. The regulators’ unwillingness to interfere with rating analytics, solve the conflict of interest inherent in the issuer-pays business model, and establish a public CRA despite lip service to that idea, indicates a reluctance to address the roots of the problem.’[1]
