To begin this assignment, read through this week's learning materials and watch the Youtube Videos, and then read Case Study: Should He Be Fired For That Facebook Post? 

Your assignment is as follows:

Create a video that is no more than 5 minutes in length discussing the following:  

1. What are each of the key issues in this case study?
2. Analyze the problems
• Identify two to five key problems
• Why do they exist?
• How do they impact the organization?
• Who is responsible for them?
3. What are possible solutions?
• Review course readings, discussions, outside research, your experience.
4. Select the best solution
• Consider strong supporting evidence, pros, and cons: is this solution realistic?

Your analysis should be supported by sources (it is acceptable to mention these sources in your video to demonstrate use of outside references).

Prompt: Complete the example Job Analysis Questionnaire located in this week's learning materials. Based on the outcome of the questionnaire, discuss what you learned about your current position. Use the following to help guide your response:

1) Is your current position description (PD) accurate? If you do not have a PD, how might your completing of the questionnaire be useful?

2) Are you doing more or less day-to-day work than you previously thought?

3) How might you redesign your current PD to enhance productivity?

4) Explain whether or not you find value in a PD.  If you do not find value in a PD, what other methods might you suggest as a way for someone to understand their roles and responsibilities?

Prompt:  Imagine that you are a service line manager at an urban hospital.  Your hospital has a lower budget than the local competitors in the area.  Your director has asked how you will recruit new staff and motivate current employees when competitors in the area are able to pay 30 to 40 percent more than your organization can?  

Explain how you would recruit and retain employees. Consider incorporating a discussion of employee benefits and how a robust benefits package may help in your endeavor. Defend your answers.

1) What are some advantages and disadvantages of using e-learning in organizational training and development?

2) With staff members working remotely, how does that cause an organization to think differently about employee engagement important?

3) How can organizations that have employees working remotely promote and enhance employee engagement?

Additionally, based on what you have read this week an/or your own personal experience with organized labor, take a stance on whether or not you agree or disagree with the concept of organized labor/unions. Make sure you defend your stance.

Week 8 Discussion Forum - Peer Review and Constructive Feedback

The following discussion wraps up the course. You must post your initial response by Wednesday of the week assigned and must reply to two (2) others by Sunday of the week assigned.

Prompt: In a professional setting, it is important that we are able to receive and appreciate constructive feedback from our peers. For this forum, imagine that you are only a few days away from presenting the PowerPoint that you completed last week to the hospital's board of trustees and executive board. You have asked your peers to review and listen to your presentation and provide constructive feedback. Be respectful, constructive, and thoughtful in your responses.

1) One person of your group will post the PowerPoint presentation that each of you constructed last week to this forum.  

2) Provide at least a one-paragraph summary of your presentation.

3) Review at least two other groups' presentations and provide constructive feedback that they could use to improve their presentation. Also, make sure to discuss areas of the presentation that you feel are well done.
