MED7382 Writing your proposal.

Your proposal should draw upon the lessons learned from your experience of undertaking the Research in Practice module, as well as others.

You should reflect on the feedback you’ve had about ideas, research and writing and bear that in mind as you work on this proposal.

Below is an indicative structure for your proposal:

A note of whether you are undertaking a dissertation or production focused Major Project
A developed research question – this is required for Dissertation OR Production focused Major Projects, please see the slides from the first lecture.
A summary of the proposed project (medium involved; aims; number of elements, or the intended chapters for dissertation);
An evaluation of your role (your ability to carry out project tasks and responsibilities or undertake theoretically based research);
FOR DISSERTATION BASED PROJECTS – a brief outline of the theoretical context for your study, why does it matter? What theoretical work does it build upon? What are your three theoretical frameworks for Literature Review, and what is your methodology?
FOR PRODUCTION BASED PROJECTS - evaluation of the professional context (audiences & markets, competing productions or services, and the rationale for your project);
Your project approach and intended management (focus and style of project and the control and time management of the project as it progresses)
Form of final submission (items to be handed in).
Conditions:

The proposal should be appropriately organised, typed, double spaced and be 500 words in length. Where appropriate it should contain comprehensive and accurate referencing, a bibliography and links.

Regarding the word count: You will have written far more than this and researched even further. The proposal is a distillation of that.

Please don’t take 500 words as a measure of the work required.
