PLEASE NOTE: You will be using the Beishuizen & Stoutjesdijk (1999) article for questions 1-4 and the Brannan, White, & Long (2106) article for questions 5-7
INSTRUCTIONS:
1. Using the Beishuizen & Stoutjesdijk (1999) article, find Table 1 on page 292 (page 12 of 21 in the PDF file).
2. What are the two groups of people that this table is comparing?
3. For what DVs was there NOT a significant difference between students with the deep learning style and students with the surface learning style?
4. For what DVs was p<.001? Explain those results in laymen's terms.
5. Using the Brannan, White & Long (2016) article, find Table 3 on page 69 (page 7 of 11 in the PDF file).
6. Were there any statistically significant differences seen across the four learning styles comparing simulation to the traditional classroom method? If so, state which ones were significant. If no, write out what the non-significant results mean in laymen's terms and how you knew they were non-significant.
7. Choose one of these two articles and pick one of the DVs, and write about whether or not the results were in the predicted direction for that DV (i.e., were there significant group differences on that DV). Even though they don't formally state hypotheses in either article, they do at least talk about what they predict will happen. What was the DV you picked and how do we know whether the results were in the correct direction?
