Question 1.

Open "FairFPSR3.sav" data set. Use chart builder to produce, as closely as possible, Figure 9.4 from the textbook. Copy and paste this figure into your word processing document.

Question 2.

If we change the independent variable from our running example from "growth" to "inflation", what would the theory of economic voting lead us to expect in terms of a hypothesis for the slope of a regression line with variable "inc_vote" as a dependent variable and "inflation" as the independent variable? Explain your answer.

Question 3.

Estimate a regression model with the variable "inc_vote" as the dependent variable and "inflation" as the independent variable.

a) Copy and paste this output into your word processing document.

b) Write about the results in terms of the hypothesis that you discussed in question 2. What does this tell you about the theory of economic voting?.

c) Produce a figure like Figure 9.4 from the textbook but with inflation as the independent variable (inc_vote should remain as the dependent variable. Copy and paste this into your word processing document.
