AFTER COURSE PERCEPTION OF IDEOLOGIES
Questions to address in the AFTER SUBMISSION
Start by reading your BEFORE Submission.
Then make a mental effort to recollect in broad outlines the contents of the course readings and viewing materials. It would help to visually scan the table of contents of the assigned books.
Finally, answer all the questions below. Write a minimum of 300 words (for the entire assignment) and identify your answers with the corresponding question numbers (Q-1, Q-2, etc.). State your word count.
Q-1: Did you learn something new in this course about the political ideologies you were already familiar with before taking it? If so, describe the new information about familiar ideologies you gained in this course.
Q-2: Are there ideologies you were not familiar with before taking this course that you have learned something about in this course?
Q-3: If you had preference for (or leaning towards) a specific ideology before taking this course, what impact did the course have on your pre-course preference? Did it reinforce it? Did it weaken it? Did it make the choice of an ideology more complex or confusing? Etc. (A variety of answers are possible.)
Q-4: Throughout the semester, the instructor has suggested that ideologies arbitrarily and surreptitiously fix the boundaries of what are “essentially contested concepts.” Review the definition of this word. In your view, should this argument make all ideologies suspect or not? Justify your answer.
Q-5: In two years from now, what significant piece of information, IF ANY, do you think you will remember about the course’s content?
