Select one or several issues that you’d like to explore. Begin with a question and follow the question to where it leads you. Possible questions might be: What are the foundations of the human science movement? What is nursing science and how does it relate to caring science? What is the science of wholeness all about? What is complexity science and what are its implications for nursing? Where is nursing in the stages of scientific evolution? Is philosophy of science adequate for nursing’s epistemology? What are the strengths and limitations of the empirical-analytic paradigm of philosophy of science for exploring the important questions of our discipline such as outcomes, understanding health experiences, openness to integrative health and healing, etc? How can feminist perspectives inform our view and practice of science? What is the relationship between ethics and values and the aims of science? Once you have a question to explore begin your literature review to identify primary sources of philosophy of science that may be integrated with writings on nursing philosophy and metatheory. Do not write a paper on methods of science. Stay with the philosophical issues. Describe how this issue has implications for nursing science. The paper should be 8-11 pages without the title page or reference list. Use APA 7th edition as your Manual of Style.
