Assessment 1: Visual Essay (30%) Due Date: Week 6
Word Count: At least 1300 words (about 8-10 photos, each with a brief caption)
Topic: You will need to construct a visual essay on child development and address one of the following:
A. Critically reflect on the theoretical perspectives of child development
or:
B. Discuss the significance of having knowledge of stages of child development for early childhood teachers
A visual essay is a series of photographs shot by you (not taken from the internet!) telling a story. The photos and captions together will demonstrate your knowledge of EITHER theories of child development (A.) OR stages of development (B.). Pick only one.
The goal of the visual essay is to demonstrate your knowledge creatively and aesthetically; in addition, your captions will also need to include references.
